I am all about for being on top of all the fashion trends in the world, and I am the first on line willing to try a new skin care product as soon as it comes out and it is available to the market.
With food trends though...well , this is a completely different story. Simply said, I have to admit, I don't follow any food trends, or at least at the moment.
The way I see it, it feels quite overwhelmed sometimes, and it is like they want to "bombard" us with healthy food suggestions at any costs . First of all, are we really sure a certain food is healthy? Second of all, even if it is , are we really sure it is healthy for "us", or is it just a trend instead , like ruffle blouses can be a trend for that season?
On my previous post last week I talked about the three different body shapes that exist in nature. The same way I strongly believe that these three different bodies require a different workout routine, I also think that each individual requires a different type of diet to keep themselves healthy.
We need to be able to filter all the suggestions we hear of about possible healthy food . For example, eating soy can be healthy for my friend Marta, but it does not necessarily mean that it is healthy for me, Alessandra. The same can be told about all the apple cider vinegars out there , the kombucha, the oatmeal, the acai bowls, the hemp or almond or soy or rice milk, the kale bowls, the quinoa bowls , the banana smoothies, the chia seeds , the cauliflower rice , the brown rice and even the Ezekiel bread ( believe it or not I did my homework and this is apparently considered the healthiest bread on planet Earth, I love the name though, it reminds me of a comic book I read when I was a a teenager), and so far and so on, I just do not have enough time to mention them all.
One common mistake we make is also forgetting that these "healthy" foods are actually caloric. Again , healthy food does not mean it makes you lose weight, so if your goal is to get rid of few pounds, educate yourself and watch out.

The same for the diets. The keto diet can work for my cousin Susie , but it is not good for me.
This is why I would discourage you from starting and following a diet taking your own initiative. It is your own body we are talking about and what you really want is to treat it right, love it and take good care of it.
The same with all the supplements easily available at your local drug store. Ask your doctor first.
I have been always concern about taking these pills that promise to accelerate your metabolism for example. In my opinion, they are hard on your heart , especially in the long run.
Bottom line, go to your primary doctor first, get tested to make sure that you are really healthy and then start a diet. Do not do it by yourself though. Go to a nutritionist.
Nutritionists are really the best because they ask you specific questions first, about your goals , about your life style, about your current diet, your current weight, your age, also your food preferences , and then they come up with a customize daily nutrition pattern that works for YOU YOU and only YOU.
Pretty much they educate you on what is good for you and what is not. This is priceless because you get to be the boss of your own body for the rest of your life. But since life can bring you unpredictable changes all the times, you might need to go back to that specialist when in need to readjust your nutritional scheme.

For some people the best thing to do can be eliminate carbs , on the opposite for other people a moderate intake of carbs will work magic.
Blame it on my Italian heritage, but I am able to lose more pounds when I follow a diet based on pasta, pizza and also bread.

The one thing good to remember though: EVERYTHING IN MODERATION.

I also think that the major responsible for weight gain is not the food itself but all the hormones they add to it.
When I go grocery shopping I tend to shop "organic" or "hormones free" and it seems to work well for me in terms of keeping me healthy.
If you decided to undergo invasive surgery or other plastic treatments to lose weight on a specific part of your body, I would suggest you again to go to a good nutritionist first in order to get optimal and lasting results from the medical procedures.
If your intention is to get your skin glowing and smoother and give it more elasticity, then you should also take care of what you eat. According to some researches in the skin care field some foods , such as excess of sugar, salt, red meat , dairy , alcohol and excess of caffeine can contribute to skin inflammation, wrinkles and sagging. Fill your grocery cart with fresh fruit and raw veggies, lean proteins, nuts and seeds and herbal tea instead.
And do me a favor, whenever you start eating something , sit down, chew your food , taste it and enjoy the pleasure of it.
My favorite meal is probably breakfast and brunch on the weekend.
Brunch is great. You can indulge, you meet your friends, you socialize, you can try new places, you can take it slow and easy and you eat amazing food. And you can also drink mimosa by the way!

I try to eat pretty healthy during the week but when I crave something , I just go for it. I treat myself with some salty or some sweet delicatessen, it depends on my mood, but when I do, I usually try to share the portion with somebody else or I just take a small bite.
It is a question of balance at the end of the day. And it is a question of being able to pursuit your own happiness .
I went out with my friend Izzy last night. I just love her. I can talk about anything with her. She is kind, nice, warm hearted, super smart and very interesting.
We sat down at one of our favorite local places and we ordered two lattes and two pieces of cake to share.

We had probably one of our most exciting conversation in the past few months. We talked about fashion in general , and then about books, wardrobe organizing, handbags, outfits, eyewear, love, marriage, women empowerment and ....food of course.
It is interesting how we bonded over a cappuccino and a tasty orange and chocolate cake.
Izzy is also very talented and creative and she likes taking pictures in her free time. She took this picture of me. And of the huge latte mug in front of me....!
When I looked at this picture I thought: maybe this is happiness but sometimes I am too busy to see it...
So remember to feed your body with joy.

And when in doubt, remember also to dress your body with humor .
