I have been telling myself way too many times , stop talking about this bad pandemic, but I can not help myself . The repercussions of COVID-19 on most of us at a physical, emotional and economic level are so big , that I can not pretend the virus does not exist.

Even worst, the number of cases in the States and globally have been increasing in the past few weeks, and more restrictions are probably coming up soon , together with the closure of some non-essential businesses.

Sometimes I feel I am stuck in a nightmare and I can not get out.

Are we going backwards instead of going forwards? This is how it feels like.

Meanwhile the weather and the environment are following their natural course , and here we go again, Summer is over and Fall is approaching.

I found myself where I left myself around mid June.

Yes, I am one of those people who change their wardrobe based on the season.

I packed away all my Winter clothes and shoes in June and displayed all my Summer goodies on soft hangers in my new fresh scented closet. I washed all my heavy winter jackets and coats .

It felt so good at that time. I was ready to just go out and live my Summer at its best..carefree...surrounded by my dear friends...walking and running outside, wearing my "breezy easy" dresses.

My Summer was not so bad at the end of the day. I quite enjoyed it actually, and I was able to spend a lot of quality time with some friends I was not able to see during that past Winter.

Summer was just too short as it always is, but this time it was even shorter, shorter than ever, and I am not sure I am ready to face another COVID-19 Fall and Winter.

Despite everything a woman has to do what she has to do. For some women it means to start cooking "warmer" meals, for other women it means to decorate their homes for Halloween and then for Thanksgiving, for some women it means to spend time at a Spa and take a good care of their body, their skin, their hair , their soul...

For me, of course, you should know me well by this time, Fall approaching means to organize my wardrobe.

I usually get so exited . I take a good analysis of all my "cold season" clothes and shoes and I make a list of the items I think I am missing in order to create my outfits.

This time it just feels...very different..and I feel a bit lost , I have to admit.

Why do I need new outfits? Where am I going? Will we be forced to be in lockdown again...staying at home, working out on our Yoga mattress, just watching Tv and talking to our friends and coworkers on Zoom ?

There is no answer for this question, but everything seems to be so unpredictable , unsafe, and also creepy in a way.

Some of us lost their jobs during the pandemic , some of us had to accept a pay cut , there are not many savings left.

On the bright side, this new situation we are all living in , hit me and opened my eyes.

I want to try to reinvent myself, I want to try to create my new outfits based on pieces of clothes I already own. I want to be a wiser shopper and purchase not by impulse but only by what I really need.

In this post and in the next posts I will identify some key basic items that should always be present in a woman's wardrobe to ease her task of putting outfits together and to help her to look polish and great all the times , on all occasions , without putting too much effort.

So.....here is the first item. All women should have a pair of black trousers in their closets.

And I do not mean black jeans, I really mean a pair of regular fitted pants.

You can see few examples on the photos I published above.

Trust me, there are many options out there that can flatter every women's body shape.

Do not go too tight or too cropped.

If you are tall the cropped versions will look good on you , if you are not so tall and you have a pair of great strong legs, opt for a model whose hem stops right a little bit above the smallest part of your calves.

If you are petite , I would suggest you to pick a flare , loose pair of trousers , because they elongate your legs quite a bit and they make you look taller.

If you need some pieces of advices on how to find the best pants shape for you, please email me to alessandrabeatricega@gmail.com. I am a certified image consultant /wardrobe stylist and I can give you some suggestions.

I love the idea of changing the shoes to dress the trousers up or down.

A pair of white or color sneakers are always welcome , especially if you need to run errands to pick up your kids from school, to go grocery shopping or to meet with your friend for a lovely brunch.

You can switch to a pair of classic black pumps or other stilettos shoes if you are attending an event and you need to look more spicy.

You can wear your black pants with a sophisticated interesting blouse to make a statement..

or with a basic turtleneck sweater if you feel cold and you are walking outside.

Feel free to add a pop of color by wearing a colorful tee on top , yellow and turquoise are really in for this Fall by the way, or if you prefer just a hint of color , use a pastel top.

If you are wearing black on black you can accessorize and do not be afraid to dare too much. Use gold, silver, neon colors, have fun.

And of course the classic white button down shirt. This is another basic item to match to your black pants. Are you concern of looking too boring? Do not be. Add a pair of statement earrings.

Sometimes I just put my black bustier on top of a white tee, and here you go, you got yourself a brand new outfit. If bustier tops are not your cup of tea do not worry, just wear a vest.

In need to show up your waist without showing skin? Wear the belted version . The side pockets of the example above add an effortless flavor to the all "ensemble".

You can wear your black trousers on a date , as well.

I would make sure that you spice them up by wearing something sexy on top like in these two examples below, showing just a hint of skin. Voila'! Perfection.

Still not sold?

Do you think black trousers are just for the office and not for a night out?

Wrong!

Layer them by wearing a lace bras or a lace top underneath a blazer. Add a clutch, a pair of sandals .

Wear them with a nude light sweater on top.

Or you can wear a high waist version with a short top to drive all the focus on your waist and on your long legs!

The more aggressive version of the black trousers , in a good way, is the leather pants.

Just make sure they are not too tight and do not overdo the rest. Stay clean and simple and sober on top.

If the virus is here to stay, at least let's face it with style.

I will probably recreate the look above on me. I am already single! And red is my fav. color after all. An anti-depressant!!

I will need to add just few pieces. Done.

I hope I delivered some good ideas to you and that I have inspired you to play with what you own already.

As the virus, I am also here to stay, so if you need my help , please do not be shy.

I offer consultations one-on-one on wardrobe organization, outfit inspirations and anything else....just a reminder, this is my personal email address:
