I am not sure why but most of us when it comes to the process of aging focus on all the details that we can see from outside.

Here we are , for example, one day, standing in front of the mirror. And here they are , those deep lines on the forehead. Or we look at our eyes, which are supposed to be the door to our soul by the way, and look at them now, when did those crow's feet decide to frame that door? Or we take a look at our lips and judge them because they also are showing tiny disturbing fine lines. We even check our hair and we are sure it is getting dull and not shining anymore. And what about those grey new born babies???

Well, call me weird, but apparently I used to be bother more with some changes that were happening inside my body. I will write about health and wellness another time and clearly get ready because we all have a lot to say in this regard.

I have to be honest with you , I started to get a bit disappointed when I realized I could not read the menu at the restaurant with my own eyes anymore. I still remember that night pretty well. Lets call it the "epiphany" to sound sexier and more mysterious.

I was having a nice dinner with my friends , who were all younger than me on that occasion, I grabbed the menu, and I was not able to read it. I thought it was the weak light of the room.

I finally ordered something. I asked the waiter what he could suggest, trying to play it cool. The food was delicious by the way. But when the check showed up I finally gave up!! I could barely saw any numbers on that piece of paper. My friends took care of all the annoying calculations , I have never been a genius in math any way, but oh Gosh, I needed reading glasses for sure. You don't need to be a genius to reach out to this conclusion.

Fun fact, you can cover grey hair, you can improve the appearance of some wrinkles and fine lines, you can tone your body, you can dress for the body you have , but at the end of the day you can not hide the reality that you need to use reading glasses. And everybody can see that you are wearing them.

I went to the eye doctor and bla bla bla bla. I though "Great, now what? Something more to be worried about...".

But then something happened , very spontaneously, very naturally, and like magic at the same time .....voila' , I started genuinely to love wearing reading glasses.

I just changed my approach. I told myself, I always liked to " accessorize" my outfits, I would have done the same with my reading glasses . And if my eyes were the door to my soul, they would have deserved the best frames.

In the same way you should invest for example in a classic bag , in a neutral color, and then buy other less expensive bags for fun and for a change, I would suggest you to invest in a good quality , "neutral" pair of reading glasses and then to purchase other pairs and play with them and use them to spice up your looks whenever you feel like.

You should shop for your "good" reading glasses in the same way you would shop for your high end designer pieces. Make sure they frame your eyes gracefully. Ensure they go well with the shape of your face and your hair cut. Try to pick a color that does not crash with the color of your skin and the rest of your complexion. If you need some piece of advice on the best shape to fit you , feel free to shoot me an email with a picture of you at alessandrabeatricega@gmail.com.

After you are done with your "strong" pair of glasses, go ahead , have fun and shop for cheaper colorful , sexy, unusual, extraordinary "you" reading glasses. You should own many pairs. First of all because you will lose some of them anywhere you go. Treat your good pair carefully , so that you can afford breaking your cheaper ones once in a while. So what if it happens? Don't cry, be happy, and run to buy another pair. What about those leopard patterned ones that you saw at the pharmacy the other day but you did not buy because you had just bought the shocking pink ones? Bottom line, you should have as many pairs of reading glasses as the many outfits you put together on a regular basis.

And finally, this is me above. I could not decide if to wear blue or purple reading glasses, so I opted for ...both colors. Sometimes being flexible and playful is the best solution you can find.

The other day I went to drop off a package at a UPS location. There was this guy behind the counter, probably in his early twenties . He gave me some papers to fill in, I told him: " I am sorry I am old, I need my reading glasses or I can not see anything" , and grabbed my red pairs from my purse. He told me " You are not old, and these glasses look amazing on you". I smiled and I replied : " tell your mom that he raised you very well". I learnt something though: never apologize for who you are and most of all never apologize for your age. You are "you" and nothing or nobody can take this away from you.
